Marvel Writers Completely Space that Hawkeye Exists

HOLLYWOOD, CA—The much-anticipated conclusion to the Marvel Avengers story line releases today with End Game. Although expected to be exhilarating in many respects, it appears that the story line ran into several obstacles, the most hilarious of which was that script writers almost entirely forgot that the arrow-shooting marksman, Hawkeye, existed. Several sources from the studio have helped The Colon to recreate the circumstances of the omission that almost was, although names have been changed for the sake of anonymity. Reportedly, the writers were putting in the finishing touches on the script years ago when one of them had a troubling sensation, but she couldn't quite put her finger on what it was. "You know that feeling you get when you've left your keys in the car, but you haven't realized it yet? You just know that something is wrong. It was like that." "She came by my office," shared a producer of the film, "and she just said, 'I'm not sure what it is, but I just feel like we've forgotten something in the script.' We all met and sat down for a good 40 minutes hashing out the script again from top to bottom, and finally, it seemed to don on her. 'Wasn't there some character in one of the other films who wore a lot of black?' We were all thinking through it, and of course there are plenty of characters in black. Black Panther, Black Widow, the Winter Soldier is basically in black all the time. We told her that, but she still felt like we were missing something. 'I feel like this one didn't really have any powers exactly.'" The group again settled on the character called Black Widow, who is a well-trained combatant, but lacks superhuman abilities. "'No,' she told us. 'Not the hot one.'" "We finally about gave up before someone Googled a list of Marvel characters and we went through it one by one. Then there it was. Hawkeye." Although about half of the room immediately saw their mistake of leaving Hawkeye completely out of the script, apparently many in the group were still bewildered. "Wait. Who?" The group then spent approximately 25 minutes trying to remind the other writers, all of whom had contributed to the previous story lines, that the marksman character Hawkeye, played by Jeremy Renner, had not been included in the script at all. "Didn't he die like, 4 movies ago?" asked one of the writers. "Yeah, that seems right." added another. "No," countered another. "I am pretty sure that he's still around." The team of writers spent several minutes getting caught up on Hawkeye's role in the last few films and then concluded that he was, in fact, still a part of the story in the Marvel universe, despite not appearing at all in Infinity War. A long discussion then ensued about what to do. Several writers apparently felt that the script was just fine without Hawkeye, and that probably no one would even notice if they left him out of the film. Others wondered if he should be included just long enough to die so that they could "wrap up that loose end." In any case, the team assures fans now that "Hawkguy, or Hawkman, or whatever" will have a role in the final movie, but tell us not to get our hopes up. "I mean, you guys know all he does is shoot arrows, right? Like, put that into perspective a little bit: the Hulk bites tanks in half. Do we need to draw you a diagram?"
