Betty Crocker, Garbage Man, and Other Heroes to Join Avengers: Endgame

BURBANK, CA—Excitement has been building in recent months for Avengers: Endgame, the highly anticipated follow up to last year’s Avengers: Infinity War, especially in light of the viral teaser posters and videos. Fan-based communities have unanimously been in favor of some the previously unused Marvel properties that will be joining the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in the upcoming film. The following is a summary of some of those characters and fan theories. Beware of spoilers.

First, Betty Crocker’s trademark wooden spoon or, rather, the silhouette thereof appears on one poster with the movie’s title and release date in bold letters. Betty Crocker has been a popular character in the comics since Marvel—then Timely Publications—purchased publication rights in the 1930s. She has many culinary and kitchen skills, being able to whip up delicious, crowd-pleasing meals nearly from scratch and with nearly any set of ingredients, though she favors mixes. Fans speculate that she will appear at some point to help feed the universe so that it can sustain the larger population that Thanos killed at the end of Infinity War; however, she is as handy as Black Widow in melee combat, making use of her various kitchen tools and gadgets. Some posit that Betty Crocker’s arch nemesis, the Pillsbury Dough Boy, will appear in one of the after-credits scenes. As yet, little is known about her physical appearance, which has changed slightly over the years as depicted in the above image. However, there are some theories that she may be portrayed by Zooey Deschanel, Gemma Arterton, or Ellen Page.

Second, the Garbage Man’s distinct uniform can be seen in the movie trailer at the Avengers’ headquarters. It holds true to the comics, having grease stains and a frayed collar. While it is yet unclear what the Garbage Man’s role will be in the movie, in the comics he was featured heavily in many Avengers team-up storylines as one who eliminates waste and increases efficiency, all while adhering to strict union rules, like 40-hour work weeks. Fans have speculated that he will provide a waste management service making it easier for the universe to recycle so that Thanos’ widespread genocide can be reversed without adverse consequences. He is known for wearing gloves, so he may be the one able to wield the Infinity Gauntlet. In the comics, Betty Crocker and the Garbage Man are good friends.

Third, many fans claim to be able to see Betsy the Cow flying distantly through space following one of the scenes with Iron Man. In the comics, Betsy was a normal cow abducted at the same time as Rocket Raccoon and given similar genetic modifications. In her case, she can also talk, has finger-like hooves and an opposable thumb, can walk on her hind legs, can fly, and has full control of her udder’s production of milk, including such factors as pressure, acidity, viscosity or stickiness, and lactose content. She may combine her milk with Betty Crocker’s efforts to feed the universe but may play an important, direct role in defeating Thanos.

Fourth, Studio Head is another character fans have been waiting to see on the big screen. His powers typically include accounting, marketing, logistics, and other aspects of business management. In the comics, he had the name and alter ego of whoever was Marvel CEO at the time; many theorize that this means that Kevin Feige will appear. However, there are currently only rumors that this is the case.

Avengers: Endgame is set to release in the United States on April 26th of this year and fans could not be more stoked.
