Officer Not Mad You Were Speeding, Just Disappointed

RENO, NV—Officer Bryan Sanders, who pulled you over for a traffic violation yesterday afternoon, reached out to The Colon to clarify a few points about the incident.

Although you were going 52 miles per hour in a 40 zone and had to be ticketed according to the law, Sanders, 33, wants you to know he doesn't think any less of you. "Everyone makes mistakes," the husband and father of two patiently stated, "me included, but when you drive too fast, people can get hurt."

The officer continued to explain that he didn't enjoy punishing you with the fine as it hurts him more than it hurts you, but it's the best way he knows to encourage positive change. Also, he's proud of all the things you're already doing right, like using your turn signal, and knows you have a lot of great ahead of you, too.

"[You] seemed like a really great citizen, and no matter what, I'll always value [you] as a person. I hope [you'll] be more careful in the future, but I respect [your] decisions."

At press time, Officer Sanders found illegal drugs in an SUV and placed the owner in time-out in the back of his patrol car.
