Top 5 Hacks for Re-purposing Your Pumpkin

Happy November! I hope you all enjoyed your Halloween with seances, skull bowls, razor sandwiches, and homemade costumes.

So Halloween is over, but you still have pumpkins on the front porch. Don't worry, I've got some great tips for giving those rotting jack-o-lanterns a new purpose!

5. FALL DECORATION

You carved/painted your pumpkin to be nice and spooky for October, but now what? Don't let the early Christmas crowd fool you; it's still fall! Go ahead and turn that jack-o-lantern around and you have an autumn pumpkin for Thanksgiving time!

4. ORGANIC COMPOST

Whether or not your pumpkins were grown with pesticides, they're still made of organic material (crazy, right??), so you can give them a new life as decomposing plant material in your compost pile.

3. BIRD FEEDER

Cut the top off the pumpkin, put a regular bird feeder inside, and voila!

2. TARGETS

You can always take your old pumpkins out to the shooting range and pretend you're executing someone who spray tans!

1. GARBAGE

The most popular way to reuse Halloween pumpkins is to let them molder a few weeks into November before re-purposing them as trash. This is super simple: just get an old plastic grocery bag, place the pumpkin inside (you may need gloves and a mask for this part), and drop the whole thing in the nearest waste receptacle. The neighbors will think it's so awesome!
