Rachel Penalver was known to enjoy musicals, and her friend and family said that she always took them too literally, as her criminal record will attest. After she'd seen the opening scene of La La Land, for example, she was known to cause traffic jams and start dancing around and singing at the top of her lungs in the middle of the highway.
She once slid off of her roof and ended up in a body cast for months after seeing Fiddler on the Roof on Broadway, clearly missing the symbolism of how dangerous such a thing is.
Her loved ones are glad to know that at least she died doing what she most enjoyed. Following her viewing of Singing in the Rain, she inhaled too much rain water and slowly suffocated from lack of oxygen after belting out a melodic and jovial tune during one of the heaviest rainstorms of the year in the Midwest.
The funeral is expected to be a musical celebration of her life, so please be sure to warm up your voice before attending on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
