Finally Tried Euthanasia

Barry Belchik passed away on Monday afternoon after finally deciding to give euthanasia a try. As an attorney for 18 years who worked as a defense attorney on multiple cases of wrongful death, he finally decided to put his money where his mouth is and see what all the hubbub is about assisted suicide.

Throughout his career, Barry was constantly at the center of controversy about an individual's legal right to decide when he or she dies or whether any and all measures should be taken to keep them alive as long as possible. He had fought so hard to make assisted suicide legal, but realized one day that he had never actually tried the product he claimed to believe in. And so, on Monday morning, he went into a doctor's office and had the procedure done.

Although friends and family are saddened by his decision, they are pretty sure that, had he not been killed, he would stand by the notion after having gone through it. Of course, we'll never know, as he is now gone forever. They are glad to see that he was a man who lived his belief, or died his belief, or whatever.

A public service will be held Friday at 3:00 p.m.
