Elon Musk Announces Plans to Become Batman

LOS ANGELES, CA—The South African-born billionaire Elon Musk has announced plans to become a real-life Batman of sorts, stating that to do so in his position is "the obvious next step."

The investor and innovator has risen in popularity over the last several years as he has proposed seemingly futuristic projects and companies that aim to launch the world into the future where technology is concerned. However, at a press conference on Monday, Musk announced a new lofty project to become a masked superhero by night who fights the evils of the world on his own terms.

"Members of the press," he began, "we are at a challenging time in this country... We can no longer look to our politicians or celebrities to guide us in these dark moments. Even our trust in the police is challenged. And so, over the next 5 months, I plan to become a new symbol to which the people of the United States, and yes, even the world, can look for hope."

Although Musk did not use the word "Batman" in his presentation, the parallels are difficult to ignore. He explained that he would use "state-of-the-art crime fighting equipment and technologies" developed largely by companies in which he has a stake, including an all-electric "Muskmobile" vehicle. He also shared that he has been training in the martial arts to prepare for hand-to-hand combat that is likely to come up in his new nocturnal activities.

Musk was questioned on whether it is wise to announce such a move if his intention is to be masked. After all, if one wishes to retain a secret identity, it seems foolish to share these plans with the world. His response was that it would be too obvious who he is in the first place to bother hiding in the shadows, "Let's face it. When you think of a young, fit, sexy man with all the resources and nifty gadgets in the world, you think of me."

When asked about what potential threats he plans on battling, Musk looked dramatically over the heads of the audience, and in a low voice, said only, "Injustice."
